The XTERRA U.S. Pro Series goes to Waco, Texas for the second race on May 23 at Cameron Park. Making an appearance is nine out of the top 10 athletes in the Series. Brian Smith will be absent due to an injury to his pectoralis major tendon after palcing third at the XTERRA West Championships.
Conrad “the Caveman” Stoltz will be there. Hot on his heels is Josiah Middaugh. Middaugh underwent surgery for removal of a bursa sac but proved his recovery was a success by coming in second fastest run time in Vegas last April 25. Seth Wealing and Nico Lebrun will also show up to bring home the gold. Lebrun finished 5th during the West Champs while Wealing is training for the London Olympics in 2012.

In the women’s corner, four pre-race favorites emerges. Shonny Vanlandingham is in great shape and will turn 41 on May 29. Melanie McQuaid of Canada won three XTERRA World titles. Lesley Paterson who hails from Scotland will also be there. Paterson made waves by taking second place at the Worlds last year. Then there’s Switzerland’s Renata Bucher, who won the XTERRA European Tour four times.
The new Waco course foretells a thrilling race as to who will come out victors on the Series.
