There has been a lot of speculation over Zdeněk Štybar and which team he will be with for the season 2010/2011. Štybar has a contract with Telenet-Fidea until February 2011 but on his website, he mentioned that he hasn’t finalized on a team yet.
Kevin Pauwels, Štybar’s teammate, is also known to be on the same boat as the Czech rider. Telenet-Fidea’s team manager Hans van Kasteren and Jurgen Mettepenningen of Sunweb are on the verge of a lawsuit over the recent events. However, if there was a team who had a chance at grabbing Štybar, it would be Lanbouwkrediet Credit Agricole.
Talk of a team where Sven Nys and Štybar are present is a dream for many cyclocross fans. The impressive Nys together with Štybar who is no lightweight after winning the Worlds, the World Cup overall, the Superprestige and the UCI overall ranking.
However, team manager for Lanbouwkrediet Credit Agricole Gerard Bulens made it clear that Štybar was only one of ten cyclists they were considering, “I’m definitely not going to him in February 2011…. Already talk of a transfer is far too premature.”
As for Štybar, he cleared all rumors about his intention to stay or transfer. He will pursue to fulfill his contract with Telenet-Fidea. “So I’ll race in the rainbow [jersey] for Telenet. [After February] there are multiple options, but I want clarity as soon as possible.”
