The 2010 Singlespeed World Mountain Bike Championships will be hosted by the city of Rotorua, New Zealand. The event will be on October 23 and is the finale for the Rotorua Bike Festival. The MTB race will be held at the trails of the Whakarewarewa Forest.
Registration is ongoing with 750 riders from 25 countries already confirmed their entry for the momentous event. The Rotorua Bike Festival will begin on October 17 with its famous Whaka 100 which offers 25, 20 or 100km single track courses. The rest of the week will feature more cycling events around the city.
Anyone over 18 years old can enter the race. The slots left are available for international entrants only. However, the Party Animal, which is pure fun but no race, is still open. Rotorua is a city three hours away from Auckland and was voted to be New Zealand’s most beautiful city five times. It also caters to different cycling disciplines including triathlon and BMX.
