Evgeni Petrov of Katusha finally gave one of the best wins in the longest stage of the Giro d’Italia. He won the Duo Normand two-man time trial with Filippo Pozzato.

In a series of emails to cycling officials and sponsors, seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong is being accused of doping by Floyd Landis. Landis also admitted his recent involvement with doping.
After winning the Tour De France in 2006, Landis’ doping test came back positive, voiding his win in the race. As a result, he was banned from cycling by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency.
Armstrong’s coach, Johan Bruyneel, played a role in Landis’ doping, according to an email. It was Bruyneel who educated Landis on performance enhancement drugs, said Landis.
The Wall Street Journal has confirmed that the emails it reviewed are from Landis. Not all of the correspondence have been confirmed to be from him at this time, however.
The emails also outlined a number of American riders other than Armstrong who bamboozled the anti-doping system by way of blood…

The Giro d’Italia is a three-week stage race and World Track champions Cameron Meyer and Jack Bobridge are having a tough time. To mark the start of their new careers, both took the hardships as part of a long learning process. After ten stages, the two Garmin-Transition riders are more than an hour and a half down on Alexandre Vinokourov.
They shared their teammate Tyler Farrar’s triumph in Bitonto. “This gives you a very good feeling but I wasn’t feeling well during the whole stage,” said Meyer at the finishing line south of Italy.
Meyer, the Australian time trial champion said, “I’ve done thirteen stages of the Giro last year, hopefully I’ll see Verona (the final stage) this year.” He crashed and hurt his left shoulder quite badly the day before but quitting is out of the question.
At the Tour of Oman last February, Meyer finished as third overall and won…
The 36 year old Alexandre Vinokourov is seeing the Giro d’Italia as one of his last chances in winning another Grand Tour. However, he will be riding with Astana teammate Alberto Contador at the Tour de France. With a big smile Vinokourov said, “This has been the first real quiet day,” after winning the first stage of this year’s Giro. “I had to pay attention to avoid the crashes. That gives me one more day in pink. Our team profited from the work of the sprinters’ team. As usual, the finale was a bit nervous,” he added. The day after his victory, he explained, “I attacked because I’m a rider who likes to attack,” His aggressive strategy with in the last 15 kilometers of stage nine gave him the win. Tailing him were Evans, Garzelli and Scarponi among other tough riders.

The second stage win of Tyler Farrar at the Giro d’Italia in the southern town of Bitonto, proved that he made the right decision in choosing to ride in Italy instead at the Tour of California. While America’s biggest stage race being moved to May, earlier in February the Garmin-Transitions Team stayed uncertain as to whether Farrar would ride the Giro or the Tour of California.
In Bitonto, Farrar stated, “We decided to come here to win stages and it’s working, so I’m happy with the choice we made of riding the Giro for stages and California for GC. We split the team in two for seeking different goals and to win a second stage at the Giro is amazing.”
Farrar is now racing his fifth Grand Tour and has won three stages and collected a string of ranking spots. A year ago, it would seem unlikely for he had never even…
