Liquigas-Doimo has two new cyclists who are already making waves at the Presidential Tour of Turkey. Davide Cimolai came in second to Andre Greipel at stage six at Finike while Elia Viviani won stage seven at Anatalya.
Viviani, 21 was with the U23 Italian national team where he won a stage at the Tour of Cuba. His big break came after three months. “Liquigas is a team that provides space for young riders. Once our sprinter Francesco Chicchi pulled out, Cimolai and I were given total freedom to try and get results,” said Viviani.
Cimolai, despite being only 20 years old, have gained relevant cycling experience at the Tour de San Luis in Argentina, the Tour of Qatar and at the Tour of Oman. “I didn’t expect to get a pro win so early but the team time trial at the Settimana Internazionale Coppi & Bartali,” said the young Italian.
Cimolai and Viviani will be competing at the Tour of California. The line-up for the Tour de France are Roman Kreuziger, Vincenzo Nibali, Ivan Basso and Franco Pellizotti, however, Liquigas-Doimo is expecting to train young cyclists for future races.
