New Heights for Visconti’s Career
Giovanni Visconti might have just pushed the right button to boost up his career and may at last cope up with the huge challenge laid on his shoulders ever since his early years as a 23 under rider by finally capturing the Presidential Tour of Turkey.
Visconti was the U23 road race champion when he began his professional career under the professional leadership of Paolo Bettini who led him to win in 2007 the Italian Championship. He showed a lot of talent in winning future classic races however he has still to win one major classic event.
In 2009, As team leader for the ISD, he was reunited with his mentor Luca Scinto after his excursions with Di Nardi, Milram and Quick Step. The Team has had a hard time getting invited to major races and Visconti’s victory at the Tour of Turkey may just turn everything around for his team.
Visconti declares that Luca Scinto never ceased to rely on my capabilities in winning races. “Wearing the pink jersey at the Giro d’Italia two years ago certainly made me understand how to defend a lead in a stage race but it’s kind of strange feeling for me to win a tour for the first time. It’s nice that it comes at a national tour as well.” He is hopeful to race for GC in the Grand Tours in the next couple of years. His got his eyes trained on the main event and is confident to ride and win one- day races as well.
Visconti is not at all slighted about his ISD-Neri team never made it at Giro d’Italia this year and he does not regret it at all. The organizers of RSC have placed the Italian team on the short list of reserve and the team’s management has got high hopes for their last minute entry. The situation dictated the management to hold on to Le Tour de Langkawi winner Jose Rujano until the 3rd of May when Angelo Zomegnan announces the verdict. The Venezuelan has been under speculation for getting into a mid-season transfer with Footon-Servetto.
