Linus Gerdemann is slated to be the leader for Team Milram at Giro d’Italia next month. The 27-year-old German expressed his excitement over the upcoming race, “I’m very much looking forward to it. The Giro is a race with the highest priority for me. I always like to ride in Italian races and feel very comfortable there.”
The team’s roster will include Robert Forster who won three stages at the Giro before, Luke Roberts who won a stage at the Vuelta a Murcia and Thoman Rohregger from Austria.
Fabian Wegmann will lead the team at the Fleche Wallone since Gerdemann will sit the race out due to his recovery from bronchitis. Artur Gajek is Gerdemann’s replacement in the line-up. Gerdemann expects he can compete by Sunday for the Liege-Bastogne-Liege.
The rest of the Milram team for the Fleche Wallone are Johannes Fröhlinger, Christian Knees, Dominik Nerz, Dominik Roels, Paul Voß and Peter Wrolich.
Milram’s team manager Gerry van Gerwen points out that the Giro d’Italia has been one of the team’s major highlights of the season. “Our goal is to surprise [everyone] at the race and to help shape the Giro. We are to be reckoned with.”
Gerdemann added that due to the bronchitis he experienced at the Tour of Basque, he had to go for an unscheduled break to recover. “So at this point it is hard to say what goals might be realistic, since it it’s not possible to predict my form for the start of the Giro.”
Milram’s team line-up for Giro d’Italia are Markus Fothen, Robert Förster, Linus Gerdemann, Dominik Roels, Luke Roberts, Thomas Rohregger, Matthias Ruß, Paul Voß, and Fabian Wegmann.
