The 2010 Pro Gravity Tour opened with a rainy reception in Dry Hill. The weekend event in Port Angeles, Washington was conquered by Bryn Atkinson of Transition Racing and Tracy Moseley of Trek World Racing.
The track course was narrow in some places and was fast and slick. The crowd showed their support as World Cup stars competed to win the round.
Atkinson finished with a time of 2:34:39. A minute later, Justin Leov of Trek World Racing came in second with a time of 2:35:20.
Moseley was racing against Commencal’s Rachel Atherton. Moseley won by a mere 3 seconds over her with a time of 2:50:82.

Covington, Kentucky will push through with plans for a new cyclocross race and training park. It will be in Devou Park, situated on the area nearby the Montague and Sleepy Hollow intersection. Covington is second to Louisville to create a venue for year round cyclocross racing in Kentucky.
The project will utilize unused existing road beds to ensure a low ecological impact in the area. Matt Bell, the project head, said that the permanent cyclocross park will take part and enhance Devou Park’s existing network of mountain bike trails, “it was important to me in the course design to beautify and enhance the park as well.” Devou Park hosts the opening day of the Cincinnati UCI3 International Cyclocross Festival each year.

Alistair Brownlee, 22, is making good headway to recovery from a femoral stress fracture. The reigning ITU Champion is now running about to get into shape for his 2010 season.
It was in late February when Brownlee was diagnosed to have a femoral stress fracture. This made him sit out the Dextro Energy Triathlon ITU Championship Series in Sydney as well as in Seoul. Brownlee is now in training and hopes that he will be ready in time for the Series in Madrid.
Brownlee shares, “I am at last doing all three sports and am progressing my running slowly. I have also been doing a lot of rehab and gym work. I hope to be training normally in about three weeks time, and then I will make a decision about racing in Madrid.”

New Hampshire’s The Horror at Harding Hill will debut its cyclocross category at this year’s event. It is the fifth race for the EFTA (Eastern Fat Tire Association) Championship. The event will be at Webb’s Forest at Harding hill, Sunapee on July 18, 2010.
Steve White, promoter of the race shares that the 500 acre forest is owned by one of the members of the Sunapee Lions Club. The course was designed to include a technical mix of single, double and road track. There will be one large climb and several tricky areas like “The Root Canal” and “The Pig Sty”. The “canal” route has tree roots along the way while the “sty” has muddy trails.

The first annual Cyclocross Promoter Summit took place at the U.S. Olympic Training Center last April 23-25 in Colorado Springs. The event was attended by its host USA Cycling, Geoff Proctor of the UCI Cyclocross Commission, team representatives, sponsors, officials and promoters. The summit’s agenda was to discuss the national cyclo-cross calendar, event standards, national championships and the UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships in Louisville in 2012 and 2013.
The meeting tackled several subject matters. These were:
• UCI Cyclo-cross Commission activities
• USA Cycling cyclo-cross athlete development program updates
• officials’ event reporting and evaluation
• national calendar development
• national championship scheduling
• the criteria for potential national championships and masters world championship eligibility
• potential call-up procedures
• ideas on how to improve all levels of cyclo-cross racing in the U.S.

GE (General Electric) pledges to sponsor the British Triathlon teams for preparation of the 2012 Olympic Games in London. To add, GE will also give support to British Triathlon Elite events, Elite Paratriathlon team, Age Group teams, home nation regional academies and the British Triathlon Coach Development program.
GE will be working side by side with the 50 athletes which includes the Brownlee brothers, Hollie Avil (Women’s U-23 Champion) and Helen Jenkins (2008 Women’s World Champion) to find methods and means to support the athletes.
The partnership promises to bring better ways to help improve the teams. The goal is to maximize the potential of each athlete, to find ways for early detection of any damage from the sport and efficient treatment for injuries.

The 2010 schedule for the Zipp Ohio Valley Cyclocross Tour paved way to what looks to be an unforgettable tour. The event will kick off at the Kings CX on September 19.
Last year’s opener was the most number of attendees for a non UCI OVCX competition. There will be fifteen races and it will take its riders across three states. The schedule follows a traditional set with one new race thrown in at the end of the year. This would be the last doubleheader weekend which will take place in Indianapolis. Three races are set for Indiana and six are in Ohio and Kentucky. Out of the five UCI races, two are UCI C1.
