Fulcrum Red Heat Wheelset

Fulcrum has added a new mountain bike wheelset called Red Heat to their downhill/freeride range. The new wheelset was designed for it to be a match with standard (clincher) tires. However, the tubeless set up will just not do it for this wheelset.

The innovative wheelset was launched yesterday at the Taipei International Cycle Show in Taiwan. Don’t be fooled over Red Heat because it is a bit similar in appearance with the Red Fire series. There is a difference on the rims and alloys for each bike.

Slight narrow rims would be one of those qualities the Red Heat has plus oversized alloy hubs. The coloring finish of the bike parts would not be as eye-catching as the Fire’s black with red graphics but a version slightly altered to grab your attention with its subtlety.

Other noteworthy features of the Red Heat would be front through-axles sized at 20mm/110mm plus the rear…

Ciocc Cycles Makes a Comeback in UK

Ciocc Cycles is the name linked to several Polish, Russian and Czech cyclists who ruled the Milk Race in the 70s and 80s in UK. The riders rode on the Italian built Ciocc bicycles.

Due to its popularity in the Milk Race, the Ciocc Cycles name spread throughout Britain. It became a favorite in the British peloton during those times and was regarded to be of the same quality status as other famous Italian frames.

30 years later, Ciocc continues to provide one of the well-built frames in the market. The Italian cognoscenti still hold the brand with high esteem. The latest line showcases some excellent framesets you can choose from. The range includes aluminium for the Mokba and San Cristobal or carbon with the Devilry and Keen Blade framesets.

Dominique Cornu will be forced to watch from the sidelines as he has officially withdrawn from the UCI Track World Championships due to illness. He was expected to make a bid for the 4,000-meter individual pursuit event and was actually one of the top favorites to win.

Cornu was the only cyclist from Belgium to win a medal at the 2009 World Championships, and had high hopes of winning another medla for his country in this year’s competition, which is scheduled to be held in Denmark this coming March 24.

However, a bout of flu (which had sidelined him since February) has put his plans for success on hold. Cornu had already missed riding in the Ruta del Sol and the recent Paris-Nice event, and is still far from getting back on his feet, never mind going back into the saddle.

In the light of Cornu’s absence, Belgium’s hopes…
