A new mountain bike is at the forefront for Bianchi. It unveils the Methanol SL Team Edition, the flag bearer for their 2010 MTB collection. To be used by the TX Active Bianchi Team this season, the bike comes in special colour schemes of blue that complements the jerseys used by the riders, as well as the San Marco saddles and Magura brakes.
The Bianchi Methanol SL Team Edition offers improved features by its ERC (embedded Reinforcement Construction) design that minimizes frame twisting and optimizes control. The carbon monocoque frame aims to be efficient, lightweight and sturdy. This led to the manufacturing components of the frame to be a mix from three differenet high modulus fibers. These are Toray 40T, 30T and T700. From them, the Triple Wall Tube (TWT) was made and incorporated into the frame.

The second edition of the Pisgah Mountain Bike Stage Race is featuring early schedules and an additional day of racing for this season.
The inaugural event of the Pisgah MTB Race was held in October last year, at the Pisgah National Forest in North Carolina. However, as race promoter Todd Branham points out, “I found out that people shift to cyclo-cross around October. In September, it seems like people are still doing longer events.”
Branham added that they have also talked with the town representatives in Brevard, which is hosting the race, and decided that a September schedule would be more to their liking. For this year, the MTB stage race will be held from September 14 to 18.

The pouring rain and cold weather could not stop Andre Greipel (HTC-Columbia) from taking the win at the second stage of the 2010 Volta ao Algarve.
It did, however, slow him down. Greipel’s winning time of 6+ hours actually exceeded the scheduled finish by at least 75 minutes. The 207km stage race of the Volat ao Algarve is tough enough without the heavy rains making it worse. Most of the cyclists who finished the stage couldn’t muster the energy to give an interview, and it took only one look at their beaten-down faces to know that you shouldn’t dare.

Sponsoring the festival with the Mountain Bikers of Santa Cruz are FOX Racing Show, Trailhead Cyclery, Gamut USA, Lights and Motion , Black Market Racing, and Barry Swenson Builder. The two day even which will close the 28th is also supported by local bike shops like The Bicycle Trip and Bike Station Aptos.
