BarBra – Keeping Cyclists Warm During the Winters

Hamish Greenland, a cyclists that is tortured by the cold weather in Toronto came up with a idea to keep your hands and wrists warm, while keeping your handlebars and brake levers dry. The result is known as the BarBra, which easily slips over your handlebars, fastens with Velcro straps, while reflective stripes are wrapped around making sure you are safe. Some might find this product “a bit much”, due to the fact you can simply wear gloves to avoid the cold, but as you know sometimes it is harder to shift with larger gloves. The BarBra also deflects wind, so now you can wear thinner gloves and still keep your hands warm. Retail price is $29.

The stolen Trek Equinox TTX SSL, which was taken last November 2009 at Mellow Johnny’s Bike Shop has been recovered. This was the bike used by Ryan Baumann during the 2009 season under Team Trek-Livestrong.

The bike, which had a worth around $10,000, was at Mellow Johnny’s for storage. Identifying marks on the bike would be the customized paint job on the aero bars and Baumann’s name etched on the top tube. It also had a Bontrager Aeolus wheel and a Zipp disc rear.

The stolen bike was found at a flea market in Guanajuato, Mexico. Minus the wheels, the rest of the bike was in good condition. The cyclist, who bought the stolen bike last January 2010, brought it to a Trek representative to have it authenticated. The bike was consequently returned to Ted Arnold, the store manager of Mello Johnny’s Bike Shop.

It was a good finish for Tyler Farrar of Team Garmin-Transitions as he ended up in 4th place in the first stage of the inaugural 2010 Tour of Oman.

The American rider talked with lead-out teammate Robert Hunter about his experience of riding in the dark during last Sunday’s race, and said that he was not ready to take the risks of doing an all-out sprint in those conditions.

“I tried to get up there but I wasn’t ready to commit that little bit and take those extra risks in the dark,” he says. “I was debating if I wanted to try and sprint in these conditions because it was just not worth taking the risk.”

It wasn’t all bad news for the Garmin-Transitions rider, however, since he unexpectedly found himself within reach of Team Sky’s lead-out train near the end. Farrar grabbed the opportunity to latch on and…
