World champion Australian cyclist Cadel Evans has confirmed that he will be racing in the 2010 Giro d’Italia. This will be the first time he’s raced the Giro in eight years. Evans told Italy’s sports daily Gazzetta Dello Sport that he plans to race the Giro as well as two other events by RCS Sports; the Monte Paschi Eroica on March 6th and the Tirreno-Adriatico from March 10th to 16th. The 2010 Giro will begin Rotterdam in the Netherlands on May 8th, and will finish on May 30th in Verona, Italy. Evans will be joined at the Giro by his BMC teammate Alessandro Ballan. Angelo Zomegnan, the Giro’s director, is glad that BMC decided to send both riders to the race. “It’s a proud moment for all of us at RCS,” he says.
