The Cervelo TestTeam has announced today that Joop Alberda will be stepping in to take the reigns of managing director. He will start on January 1st, 2010, and will be taking the place of German Thomas Campana. The 58-year-old Alberda is a former athlete himself, and “is considered one of the most renowned sports managers in the Netherlands,” the team says. Thomas Neeser diploma project entailed true art that many of us can appreciate and take interest too, taking vintage bicycles and redesigning them to look creative and nothing like you will see on the street. Thomas attended the Zürich’s University of Art and Design, and has since continued his project creating the bikes under Fretsche for other people. Alexandr Kolobnev, winner of the silver medal at the road World Championship in Switzerland, is leaving team Saxo Bank for team Katusha. Kolobnev’s former team manager has given his consent for the switching of teams, as he only had one year remaining on his contract. “I think that Kolobnev will be a good rider for our team. He’s a strong climber for the one-day races. He has twice won the silver at the World Championships. I’m sure that he will do well with Katusha,” says Andrei Tchmil.
