Thursday, the UCI announced that Fuji-Servetto’s Alberto Fernandez De La Puebla Ramos has been provisionally suspended after a his sample testing positive for EPO. “The decision to provisionally suspend this rider was made in response to a report from the WADA accredited laboratory in Lausanne indicating an Adverse Analytical Finding of EPO in a urine sample collected from him in an out of competition test at his home on 15 October 2009,” says the UCI of the issue. The UCI also says that Fernandez De La Puebla Ramos will remain on suspension until a Spanish Cycling Federation panel determines whether or not the rider committed an anti-doping violation. Fernandez has the option to have his B sample tested, or accepting the results of the first test. Stay tuned for more info.
