DMR has announced a safety recall on the Wingbar handlebars, to be precise the malfunction is accruing to the 25.4mm anodized alloy wingbars sold as a aftermarket part. Released in black, gray, green, purple, red, and blue, each handlebar has the DMR logo lasered on the left side. Sadly the bars are prone to cracking, and could snap in half.

DMR has said the following handlebars are not affected:
• DMR Alloy Wingbar – 31.8mm with ‘classic graphics’
• DMR Alloy Wingbar with ‘classic graphics’
• DMR Cro-Mo Wingbar with a brace
• DMR Heat treated Cro-Mo Wingbar
• Any DMR bar fitted to a DMR complete bike

Cinelli produces a number of products, both bicycles and components. The Cinelli Ram Bar Bianca is just apart of Cinelli’s RAM project. They are made with a multi-layered structure of T700 High Modulus Carbon Fiber for a very strong handlebar. As the name implies, the Cinelli Ram Bar Bianca take the shape of a ram. The drops are bent in such a way as to allow a variable radius, utilizing Cinelli’s Variable Radius Concept (VRC). Three hand positions are available; nest zone to “nest” the palm in high position on the brake levers, thumb zone, which supports the thumb near the stem, and the lower section, which is extended to allow for a better grip. The Cinelli Ram Bar Bianca weigh 230 grams, and are available in 40, 42, and 44 cm.

The 2010 National Racing Calendar has just been announced by USA Cycling. The calendar is very similar to the previous year, although it is missing the Amgen Tour of California Women’s race and the Hanes Park Classic. They did, however, add two new races to the calendar, with one in New Jersey and one in Virginia. Of the 27 races, the men will have 25, the women 19, and two will be women only. The overall purse for the 2010 National Racing Calendar will be $981,310, which is almost $400,000 less than last year. $719,000 will be for the men, and the women will be competing for $262,310. Today Garmin has announced they are extending their sponsorship of Garmin-Slipstream for 3 years, or through 2013. Jonathan Vaughters, team manager has said the extended sponsorship will help the team reach long term goals. In 2009, Team Garmin-Slipstream grabbed 29 wins, including 3 in Tour of Spain, and additional success in the Tour de France. Overall, company Garmin has been satisfied with the cyclists, giving their products much exposure….

This year at EuroBike, Lazer Urbanize rolled out a new helmet, and took home the innovation award. Upon creating the Lazer Urbanize Helmet Integrated Lights, inspiration derived from old mining helmets, but as we can see the lights are built in. Made for the “urban market”, two options are available, with lights $99 and without $79. Charged by a CR2032 battery, night riding and safety seems to exist. We must add, the helmets do look like older laser tag helmets.
